Indie Drug Dealer Sim Schedule I Tops Steam Sales, Outshines Monster Hunter Wilds and GTA 5
Schedule I, an indie drug dealer simulator, has taken Steam by storm, becoming the platform’s top-selling game and surpassing heavyweights like Monster Hunter Wilds, GTA 5, and Marvel Rivals, fueled by its viral spread across social media.
Released last week, Schedule I swiftly climbed Valve’s best-seller and most-played charts. Here’s the official description:
Rise from small-time dealer to drug lord, producing and selling various substances in the gritty city of Hyland Point. Grow your empire with properties, businesses, staff, and more.
Developed and published by TVGS, known as Tyler, the creator recently shared insights on Reddit about the game’s meteoric rise.
“It’s incredible but intense,” Tyler noted. “I didn’t anticipate this response! Right now, I’m focused on releasing patches quickly and excited to start on content updates once major bugs are fixed.”
Post-launch Patch #4, rolled out on March 29, addressed several employee and multiplayer issues.
Schedule I’s success is remarkable. Emerging unexpectedly, it leads Steam’s revenue-based top-seller chart, outpacing titles like The Sims rival inZOI and Assassin’s Creed Shadows, despite its lower price point.
The game peaked at 414,166 concurrent players on Steam over the weekend, securing a spot among the platform’s top 30 most-played games ever. At the time of this report, it boasts more active players than Monster Hunter Wilds, GTA 5, and Marvel Rivals.
Players are raving about Schedule I, giving it an ‘overwhelmingly positive’ rating on Steam, with 98% positive user reviews. Here’s a glimpse of their feedback:
"A woman asked for weed, rejected my price, then stabbed me with a broken bottle. 10/10"
"Love this game"
"My RV exploded while dealing drugs"
"Sold weed from a motel"
"Built a meth empire"
"Then played the game"
"Hilarious and addictive game. The loop is fun, especially with friends. It’s early access, but I’d love more active police—searches, pursuits, faster AI—and gang conflicts plus a bigger map. Still, it’s fantastic. 10/10"
As a meme-driven game, Schedule I’s longevity is uncertain, but developer Tyler is unfazed. The game has already transformed their career, with major content updates planned.
