TownsFolk Unveils Major Update with New Mechanics, Structures, and Compendium
Short Circuit Studio has recently unveiled an exciting new update for their freshly launched settlement builder, TownsFolk. Titled "Shadows and Fortune," this update introduces a darker, more thrilling layer to the game's charming pixel-art world, enhancing the gameplay with new mechanics and features.
Even though TownsFolk is a new release, the developers are committed to enriching the game experience. The "Shadows and Fortune" update brings a variety of new elements, including roaming Barbarians that will ramp up the tension in both campaign missions and Skirmish mode. This addition promises to keep players on their toes as they manage their settlements.
The update also introduces eight new buildings that diversify the gameplay and strategies available to players. These include the Altar, Town Square, Blacksmith, Aqueduct, Bank, Granary, Factory, and Terraformer. Each structure offers unique functions and benefits, allowing players to expand and optimize their settlements in new ways.
For those who enjoy exploring the game's waters, the update adds a rare Whale to the water tiles, adding an element of excitement and discovery. Additionally, the introduction of Special Locations like ancient Obelisks and new Shipwrecks injects more unpredictability into the game, making each playthrough unique.
To help players navigate the expanded world of TownsFolk, the update includes a Compendium, serving as an in-game encyclopedia to keep track of new features and mechanics. The Exploration System has been revamped, and players can now adjust Campaign Difficulties between Frontier and Survival modes, tailoring the challenge to their preferred level of intensity.
