Ubisoft Discreetly Releases A New NFT Game
Ubisoft's Stealth NFT Game Launch: Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E.
Ubisoft quietly unveiled Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E., a new NFT-based game requiring players to purchase a digital Citizen ID card for access. Let's delve into the details.
Ubisoft's Latest NFT Venture
As reported by Eurogamer on December 20th, Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E. is a top-down, multiplayer arcade shooter with a cryptocurrency-driven gameplay model. According to Eden Online, the game expands on the Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix Netflix series, incorporating familiar Ubisoft IPs like Watch Dogs and Assassin's Creed.
Limited Access and Evolving NFTs
The game's unique feature is its limited player base of 10,000. Access is granted through the purchase of a Citizen ID NFT card, which tracks player stats, achievements, and accolades. These cards dynamically evolve based on in-game performance.
Acquiring a Citizen ID requires a crypto wallet and purchasing a Niji Warrior ID card from Ubisoft's designated page for $25.63. Players can later relinquish their citizenship and resell their IDs, potentially increasing their value depending on in-game success. A full launch is slated for Q1 2025, with early access for those who secure an ID early.
A Netflix Series Inspired by Far Cry 3
The Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix Netflix series serves as the game's inspiration, acting as an animated spin-off of Far Cry 3's Blood Dragon DLC. Set in an alternate 1992, the series depicts a technocratic United States ruled by a single megacorporation, Eden. The story follows Dolph Laserhawk, a supersoldier, and his journey after defecting from Eden Tech Military.
While Ubisoft hasn't detailed the game's narrative, it shares the same universe, placing players as citizens under Eden's control. Player actions, including mission completion and community engagement, directly influence the game's storyline and leaderboard rankings.
