Playism's upcoming release, Urban Legend Hunters 2: Double, offers a unique blend of FMV and augmented reality gameplay. Players step into the shoes of an outsider investigating the disappearance of a YouTuber specializing in urban legends.
The game features a cast of characters – Rain, Shou, and Tangtang – who claim to be part of the missing YouTuber's crew. The mystery centers around the legend of the double, or doppelganger, where one person replaces another without detection.
Urban Legend Hunters 2: Double innovatively integrates FMV footage directly onto real-world environments captured through the player's phone's camera. This AR approach, while unconventional, adds a creative layer to the investigation.
While the game's concept is intriguing, expectations for a complex psychological thriller might be unrealistic. However, the inherent cheesiness often associated with FMV games, particularly in the horror genre, could be a significant part of its charm.
