IGN Fan Fest 2025 delivered an exclusive premiere date for The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2: May 4, 2025. The announcement included an exclusive clip and interviews with key figures.

Scott Gimple, chief content officer of The Walking Dead universe, along with Lauren Cohan (Maggie) and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Negan), offered insights into the upcoming season.

Cohan described Maggie's emotional state: "Sadly, not everything is as rosy as one might hope," she explained, highlighting the relatable family tensions amidst the apocalyptic setting. The challenges of raising a teenage son and caring for Ginny add a layer of domestic drama to the ongoing survival struggles.

Morgan discussed Negan's precarious position, now under the control of The Dama and The Croat: "He's in a place he's not enjoying," Morgan stated. While Negan will inevitably scheme his way out, he faces significant challenges at the season's outset. He also reflected on his iconic weapon, Lucille: "I love that thing! It brought back fond memories...not for Lauren!"

Gimple teased the season's conflicts, emphasizing a shift in power dynamics rather than a single antagonist. He described the season as "more complex, more political, and then we get kinda physical."

IGN also premiered the opening minutes of the Season 2 premiere.
