Wukong Sun: Black Legend, a game currently available for pre-order on the US eShop, faces an uncertain future due to striking similarities to the acclaimed Black Myth: Wukong. The visual style, the protagonist wielding a staff, and the plot synopsis strongly suggest significant inspiration, bordering on direct copying, from Game Science's hit title.

Wukong Sun's description reads: "Embark on an epic journey to the West. Play as the immortal Wukong, the legendary Monkey King, battling for order amidst chaos, powerful monsters, and deadly perils. Explore a story inspired by Chinese mythology, featuring intense combat, breathtaking locations, and legendary foes." This description echoes the core elements of Black Myth: Wukong's narrative and setting.

Black Myth: Wukong, a remarkably successful RPG from a small Chinese studio, captivated players worldwide with its intricate detail, engaging gameplay, and challenging yet accessible combat system. Its blend of souls-like mechanics with a user-friendly approach avoids overwhelming players with complex systems. Visually stunning, the game's fluid animations and captivating world design create an immersive, fairytale-like experience. Its exceptional quality led many gamers to believe it deserved a "Game of the Year 2024" nomination at The Game Awards.

The blatant similarities between Wukong Sun: Black Legend and Black Myth: Wukong raise serious concerns regarding copyright infringement. Game Science may well pursue legal action, potentially leading to the removal of Wukong Sun from the eShop. The future of this derivative project remains highly questionable.
