Zelda Fan's Video Blends 'Tears of the Kingdom' with 'Super Mario Galaxy'
A recent online video cleverly transforms The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom into Super Mario Galaxy. Released in May 2023, Tears of the Kingdom—the sequel to 2017's Breath of the Wild—is the latest in Nintendo's acclaimed Zelda series. Frequently compared to other Nintendo hits like Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and Super Mario titles, a gamer has highlighted its surprising similarities to Super Mario Galaxy.
Reddit user Ultrababouin's "Super Zelda Galaxy" video, posted recently, expertly blends footage from Tears of the Kingdom to evoke the feel of the 2007 Wii classic. The edit recreates iconic moments from Super Mario Galaxy, including its opening sequence, triggering a wave of nostalgia among viewers.

Ultrababouin shared their month-long project on the Hyrule Engineering subreddit, a community dedicated to Tears of the Kingdom in-game creations. The video was an entry in June's design contest. A talented builder, Ultrababouin has previously impressed with creations such as a Tears of the Kingdom version of the Master Cycle Zero, earning Engineer of the Month awards in December and February.
While absent from Tears of the Kingdom, the Master Cycle Zero (a horse-like motorcycle from Breath of the Wild) is mirrored by the new game's robust vehicle-building system. This system has inspired incredible feats, including an aircraft carrier capable of launching a functioning bomber, created by Hyrule Engineering member ryt1314059.
The next Zelda game, Echoes of Wisdom, launches September 26th. A unique departure, it features Princess Zelda as the protagonist, unlike the series' usual Link-centric adventures.
