Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom to Support Cloud Saves
Nintendo has officially confirmed that the Nintendo Switch 2 version of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will indeed support cloud saves, much to the relief of fans everywhere. Initially, there was confusion and concern sparked by a disclaimer on Nintendo's website for the game's Switch 2 edition, which stated that the software would not support the Nintendo Switch Online paid membership’s Save Data Cloud backup feature. This led many to worry that this beloved title, among others, would not offer the cloud save functionality they had hoped for on the new console.
However, Nintendo has since updated its website, clarifying the situation. While the page for Donkey Kong Bananza has completely removed any mention of cloud saves, the updated disclaimer for Tears of the Kingdom now specifies: "Save data created in the second save data slot in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition cannot be transferred to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on Nintendo Switch." This change should reassure Switch 2 owners, indicating that they will be able to transfer their existing Switch 1 saves to the new console, but not vice versa, as noted by Eurogamer.
Similarly, the page for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition has been updated with the same message, suggesting a consistent approach to save data transfers across these titles.
In other news, pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 have gone live, maintaining a price point of $449.99. As expected, the demand has been high. For those interested, IGN offers a comprehensive Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order guide to help navigate the process.
