Young James Bond debuts in "007 First Light," Lennie James cast
The PlayStation State of Play presentation has finally given us our first substantial glimpse at 007 First Light, IO Interactive's upcoming James Bond title slated for a 2026 release from the creators of Hitman.
A cinematic trailer introduced us to a younger, less experienced James Bond at the start of his career as a secret agent.
The preview also confirmed that Lennie James from The Walking Dead will appear in the game, though details about his character remain under wraps.
The trailer reveals a tragic backstory - at age 11, Bond witnessed his parents' fatal accident during a mountain climbing disaster where they sacrificed themselves to save him, leaving young James to descend alone.
Originally unveiled in 2020 as Project 007, IO Interactive's Bond project has remained shrouded in secrecy until now. The developers have consistently emphasized this will be an original origin story rather than an adaptation of existing films.
IO Interactive's CEO Hakan Abrak has expressed ambitions for 007 First Light to launch a potential game trilogy, though this focus has temporarily sidelined their popular Hitman series. Recent announcements confirmed the game will come to Nintendo Switch 2 alongside PC, PlayStation and Xbox platforms.
