Abyss of Dungeons: Dark and Darker Mobile's New Name Revealed

May 23,25

Krafton has taken a significant step in rebranding Dark and Darker Mobile to Abyss of Dungeons as part of their strategy to distance themselves from the ongoing legal issues surrounding Ironmace Studios. The rebranding primarily affects the name and possibly some elements specific to the original Dark and Darker theme, with no major alterations to the core gameplay mechanics.

For those not in the loop, Ironmace Studios is currently entangled in a legal dispute with Nexon, who accuses the studio (founded by former Nexon employees) of utilizing trade secrets to develop Dark and Darker. While the legal battle continues, Krafton's decision to rename the mobile version to Abyss of Dungeons marks a clear separation from Ironmace's troubles.

ytNo differenceThe good news for fans is that, aside from the name change, Abyss of Dungeons retains the gameplay elements that were already set to diverge from the original PC version, including a new third-person perspective. This move, while disappointing for some Ironmace supporters, should not detract from the overall gaming experience.

Looking ahead, the soft launch of Abyss of Dungeons is scheduled for June 11th in Brazil, Thailand, Indonesia, and Mexico. As fans await a resolution to Ironmace's legal battles, they can look forward to Abyss of Dungeons as a complementary mobile experience to the main PC release of Dark and Darker.
