Titled "Made in Abyss: A Difficult and Mysterious Journey," this new mobile game was announced alongside the launch of its official X account, which will be the go-to source for updates as the release date approaches.
While details are scarce, we know that Made in Abyss: A Difficult and Mysterious Journey will be a casual mobile title, designed for both Android and iOS platforms. Initially, it will be available only in Japan, with no information yet on a potential global rollout.
Dived into the Abyss Yet?
For those new to the franchise, Made in Abyss began its journey in 2012 as a manga by Akihito Tsukushi, serialized on Web Comic Gamma. The story centers on Riko, a young orphan residing in the town of Orth, which is perched on the edge of a colossal vertical chasm known as the Abyss. This mysterious and dangerous place is teeming with ancient technology, bizarre organisms, and an enigmatic allure that has claimed countless explorers.
Riko's ultimate goal is to follow in the footsteps of her mother, Lyza, a revered White Whistle Cave Raider who vanished into the depths of the Abyss. Her adventure takes a pivotal turn when she encounters Reg, a half-robot boy with no recollection of his past. Together, they embark on a perilous descent into the Abyss, fully aware that their journey might be one-way.
The manga's popularity led to an anime adaptation in 2017, followed by a sequel film, "Dawn of the Deep Soul," released in Japan in 2020. Additionally, in 2022, Chime Corporation brought the story to consoles and PCs with the RPG "Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness."
