Alan Wake 2 Universe to Expand As Control 2 Is Marked Ready for Production
Remedy Entertainment Unveils Development Updates for Upcoming Titles
Remedy Entertainment recently shared progress updates on several highly anticipated projects, including the Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake, Control 2, and Codename Condor, in their latest financial report. The report detailed the development stage of each game and offered insights into Remedy's evolving publishing strategy.
Control 2 Nears Completion
The sequel to the acclaimed 2019 title, Control 2, has reached a pivotal stage. Remedy announced the game has entered "production readiness," signifying a fully playable version exists and the focus is shifting to scaling up production, including extensive testing and performance optimization to ensure quality standards are met. Additionally, the Control Ultimate Edition, developed in partnership with Apple, is slated for release on Apple silicon Macs later this year.
Codename Condor in Full Swing
Codename Condor, the multiplayer game set within the Control universe, is currently in full production. Development includes the creation of multiple maps and mission types, with internal and limited external playtesting underway to gather feedback and validate features. This marks Remedy's first foray into live-service gaming, and will launch with a "service-based fixed price" model.
Alan Wake 2 and Max Payne Remake Progress
Alan Wake 2, following positive critical reception and player feedback, has reportedly recouped most of its development and marketing costs. A physical Deluxe Edition is launching October 22nd, with a Collector's Edition to follow in December. Pre-orders are open on the official website.
The Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake, a co-production with Rockstar Games, has transitioned from production readiness to full production. The team is focusing on creating a complete playable experience, emphasizing unique gameplay features to differentiate the remake.
Future Focus on Control and Alan Wake Franchises
Remedy's future strategy centers on the Control and Alan Wake franchises. Having acquired full rights to both IPs, the company is exploring self-publishing and other business models, with further details expected by year's end. This includes considering self-publishing and potential partnerships for long-term success.
Remedy emphasized the importance of these interconnected franchises within their "Remedy Connected Universe," highlighting their commitment to growth and expansion.
Further announcements regarding the Control and Alan Wake franchises, along with continued updates on their game development, are anticipated throughout the year.
