Assassin’s Creed Shadows Delayed Again

Assassin's Creed Shadows' March Release Date Confirmed

Ubisoft has announced a further delay for Assassin's Creed Shadows, pushing the release date back to March 20, 2025. Initially slated for a February 14th launch, this latest postponement adds another five weeks to the wait. The publisher cites the need for additional refinement and polishing based on player feedback as the reason for the delay.

The game's journey to release has been marked by setbacks. A significant three-month delay was announced in September 2024, shifting the launch from November 15th to February 14th. While the initial delay was attributed to unspecified development challenges, this second delay explicitly focuses on integrating player feedback to enhance the overall experience.

Marc-Alexis Coté, the game's vice president and executive producer, emphasized Ubisoft's commitment to delivering a high-quality, immersive experience shaped by ongoing player interaction. He reiterated that the extra time will be used for refining and polishing the game.

Release Date: March 20, 2025

The September delay prompted Ubisoft to offer pre-order refunds and free access to the first expansion for those who pre-ordered. While there's been no official word on similar compensation for this latest delay, the shorter timeframe might result in less player frustration compared to the earlier three-month postponement.

This additional delay may also be connected to Ubisoft's ongoing internal investigation into its development practices. The company, despite its overall success, experienced record losses in its 2023 fiscal year. The investigation aims to create a more "player-centric" approach to game development, and incorporating fan feedback into Assassin's Creed Shadows could be a direct result of this initiative.
