How to Unlock Caldarus as a Romanceable Character in Fields of Mistria

To romance Caldarus in *Fields of Mistria*, you must break the Fire Seal located on Floor 60 of the mines. To do this, you'll need to offer four specific items: a Sealing Scroll, a Faceted Rock Gem, an Emerald, and a Rockroot. Once you complete the offering, a cutscene will trigger where the Mines Priestess warns the farmer to leave or risk being sealed with the Scroll. As your health depletes, Caldarus intervenes, taking on his human form and granting you the Dragon’s Breath spell before retreating to the Deep Woods. In this new form, you can engage with him through daily conversations and gift-giving, just as you would with other romanceable NPCs in Mistria.

After breaking the Fire Seal, Caldarus can be found at his temple in the Deep Woods. To access this area permanently, you'll need to use the Dragon’s Breath spell to unlock it on your map.

Caldarus’ Heart Events in Fields of Mistria

With the March 2025 update, Caldarus begins with six hearts, which is currently the maximum heart level. Unfortunately, there are no additional heart events for Caldarus in *Fields of Mistria* at this time, but future updates are expected to add more.

Currently, there are a few cutscenes involving Caldarus. The first is a dream sequence that introduces you to the game's magic system and mechanics. The second occurs after breaking the Fire Seal, where Caldarus saves the farmer from being sealed and reveals his human form before retreating to the Deep Woods to recover.

Following the March 2025 update, you can now trigger a date with Caldarus during the Shooting Star Festival on Summer 28.

The Shooting Star Festival

The Shooting Star Festival marks the end of summer in *Fields of Mistria*, offering a chance to take any romanceable NPC with four or more hearts on a date to the Summit to watch the stars. With Caldarus starting at six hearts, you're automatically eligible to go with him. To set up the date, gift him a Star Brooch before 8 PM on Summer 28, and meet him after that time to confirm the event. This triggers a cutscene where Caldarus thanks you for the invitation and shares insights on the stars and the Mistrian tradition of Starbinding. Your conversation delves into existential themes, with Caldarus hinting at past lives and inviting you to watch the stars from his temple.
