"Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile Shuts Down"
In a surprising turn of events, Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is set to close its doors after less than a year on the market. Activision has announced that the mobile version of the popular battle royale will no longer receive seasonal updates or new content. As of May 18th, the game has been removed from both the App Store and Google Play Store. For those who haven’t installed the app by the deadline, access will be lost entirely.
Real-money transactions have already been disabled, marking the beginning of the end for this ambitious mobile venture. While users who currently have the game installed can still enjoy online access until further notice, matchmaking and social features are expected to shut down soon. The in-game store remains accessible for those with existing COD Points, though no new purchases can be made.
Despite its promising launch, Warzone Mobile struggled to replicate the success it enjoyed on PC and consoles within the mobile gaming community. As a parting gift, players with leftover COD Points can redeem them in Call of Duty: Mobile. By logging into Call of Duty: Mobile with the same Activision account, users will receive double the value of their unused Warzone Mobile points, along with additional rewards, until August 15th.
For those who haven’t downloaded the game by May 19th, this is your final chance. Post-launch, no refunds will be issued, and the game will become completely inaccessible. While disappointing, this decision serves as a stark reminder that even globally recognized franchises face challenges achieving long-term success in the mobile gaming space.
