Choosing Your Faction: A Guide to Dynasty Warriors: Origins

May 24,25

In the thrilling world of *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*, you'll find yourself hacking and slashing through ancient China alongside various warlords, but the time will come when you must choose your allegiance. Here's everything you need to know about selecting factions in *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins Factions Explained

*Dynasty Warriors: Origins* is structured into multiple chapters, with the first two chapters allowing your playable character, the Wanderer, to remain neutral. You'll have the opportunity to interact with Sun Jian’s, Cao Cao’s, and Liu Bei’s factions, assisting in battles and participating in significant events like the Yellow Turban Rebellion and the Battle of Hulao Gate.

However, upon reaching Chapter 3, *Dynasty Warriors: Origins* will notify you that by the end of the chapter, you must commit to one of the three factions. By this stage, you should have a good sense of which faction resonates with you, but the game offers additional battles to help you make an informed decision.

To advance in the game, you need to complete a specific number of missions for each faction. To align with Sun Jian, you must complete three battles; for Liu Bei, two battles are required, and for Cao Cao, just one battle suffices. Once you've fulfilled the mission requirements for a faction, a new mission will unlock, compelling you to choose a side. For instance, if you complete Cao Cao’s mission first, you'll be prompted to ally with him or Liu Bei in the subsequent battle, with the option to choose Liu Bei unavailable if you haven't completed his missions. You can always return and complete missions for all factions before making your final choice.

Once you've made your decision, the faction you choose not to join will be locked out for the remainder of the game. This means you won't be able to accept side quests from their officers or increase your bond with them, which might make your chosen path more challenging. For example, siding with Liu Bei, who starts with fewer commanding officers, can limit your opportunities to earn skill points through side quests.

Each of the three routes offers unique missions, so if you're eager to explore all that *Dynasty Warriors: Origins* has to offer, consider saving your game before making your faction choice. This way, you can reload and experience different alliances.

And that's how you select a faction in *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*. The game is now available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
