Rust Unveils Major Update with Improved Cooking and Farming

May 05,25

Rust, the renowned multiplayer survival game, has just launched a significant update known as The Crafting Update. This patch introduces a host of new features designed to enrich players' creative experiences. One of the standout additions is the culinary workbench, enabling survivors to whip up dishes like grilled chicken legs and enjoy them with a shot of Siberian vodka. To prepare these meals, players must follow specific recipes, and well-cooked food not only satisfies hunger but also provides stat boosts and gameplay-enhancing modifiers.

The update also introduces chicken coops, allowing players to raise chickens and chicks. These birds require attentive care, with four critical attributes to monitor: Hunger, Thirst, Love, and Sunlight. If any of these needs are neglected, the birds will perish. Meat from chickens will spoil over time, rendering it unusable unless stored in a working refrigerator. Additionally, food items now display timers showing their expiration dates, adding a realistic element to resource management.

For those with a penchant for sweets, the game now features wild beehives that can be found on trees. Players can extract honeycombs and relocate them to crafted hives made from wooden boxes. However, handling bees comes with risks, as they are aggressive adversaries. To protect themselves, players can wear special suits, use water to douse themselves, or even resort to flamethrowers. A new weapon, the Bee Grenade, adds a unique twist to combat. This grenade, disguised as a jar of honey, shatters to release three swarms of aggressive bees, forcing opponents to scatter in panic.

The engineering workbench has undergone a complete overhaul, now featuring a dedicated tech tree for plumbing and electricity. This enhancement allows players to construct automated systems and even entire factories, opening up new possibilities for base building and resource management. Additionally, the developers have introduced premium servers, which are exclusive to players whose Rust inventory exceeds a value of $15. This measure aims to create a more refined gaming environment by filtering out cheaters and disruptive players, ensuring a smoother experience for dedicated gamers.
