Civ 7 Ghandi DLC Might Be Coming After All

Firaxis Games, the developers behind Civilization VII, have hinted at the potential return of Mahatma Gandhi as a DLC leader. While not initially included in the base game's roster, the possibility remains open. This article explores the reasons behind Gandhi's initial absence and the likelihood of his future inclusion.
Civilization VII Developers Consider Returning Past Leaders as DLC
Gandhi's Return Remains a Possibility

An IGN interview with Civ VII lead designer Ed Beach on February 13, 2025, revealed that the absence of certain historical figures, including Gandhi, wasn't due to oversight. Beach clarified that the team needed to make difficult choices regarding leader inclusion. The sheer number of popular choices, coupled with a desire to introduce fresh and exciting additions, necessitated leaving some out of the initial lineup. However, Beach assures fans that the possibility of Gandhi's return, potentially as DLC, remains very much alive.

The omission of prominent civilizations like Great Britain and India stemmed from the need to balance established favorites with new, compelling additions to the game. While some familiar faces were left out, Firaxis is considering their reintroduction down the line. Therefore, the future inclusion of Gandhi and other absent leaders is not entirely ruled out.
Given the extensive DLC history of Civilization VI, the prospect of Gandhi's eventual return to Civilization VII seems plausible. However, the specific timeframe for his reintroduction remains uncertain.
