Firaxis Games Unveils Civ 7 Post-Launch Roadmap
Firaxis Games has revealed its post-launch roadmap for Civilization VII (Civ 7), detailing both free and paid content updates planned for the game following its February 11th release.
Paid DLC: New Leaders
The roadmap highlights Ada Lovelace and Simon Bolivar as upcoming paid DLC leaders. These additions will expand the game's roster of playable historical figures.
Free March Updates: New Wonders and More
March will see the release of free updates including new content. Specific details are limited, but the updates are categorized as Content Collections (paid DLCs), Free Updates, and Events & Challenges. A significant portion of this update will focus on expanding the game world with features such as the Bermuda Triangle and Mount Everest.
Future Plans: Expanding Multiplayer and More
Beyond March, Firaxis plans to add two more leaders, four civilizations, and four world wonders. Further updates will include new events and challenges. While no release dates are confirmed, future content drops are anticipated for October 2025 and beyond.
The developers also acknowledged several features initially planned for launch but postponed. These include:
- Adding teams to multiplayer
- Increasing the multiplayer player count to 8
- Allowing players to select starting and ending ages
- Introducing a wider variety of map types
- Implementing hotseat multiplayer
These features are currently in development, with developers assigned to their implementation. Release dates for these features remain unannounced.
