Cyberpunk 2077 to Occupy 25% of Switch 2 Storage
The Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition install size on Nintendo Switch 2 clocks in at 64GB, as confirmed by CD Projekt Red. While smaller than Xbox and PS5 versions (100-110GB), this still consumes 25% of the Switch 2's 256GB built-in storage.
Scheduled for launch alongside Switch 2 on June 5, Cyberpunk 2077 will be offered both as a physical 64GB game card and digital download via Nintendo eShop.
Unlike some upcoming Switch 2 titles that may ship with download codes instead of full games, Cyberpunk 2077 will include the complete game on its cartridge.
This raises important questions about storage management - how fast will players exhaust the Switch 2's internal capacity?
The Switch 2's 256GB storage represents a major upgrade from its predecessor's 32GB, yet early indicators suggest games will demand significantly more space.
Cyberpunk 2077's 64GB footprint dwarfs even the largest original Switch titles like Breath of the Wild (16GB). Upcoming releases like Mario Kart World ($80) will likely follow this storage-intensive trend.
Expandable storage presents the obvious solution. While the original Switch supported standard microSD cards, Switch 2 exclusively uses pricier microSD Express format, rendering existing cards incompatible.

While Nintendo collaborates with SanDisk and Samsung on first-party memory cards, these typically carry premium pricing versus identical third-party alternatives. The Switch 2's launch may attract more manufacturers to the microSD Express market, though price reductions remain uncertain.
