Daily Elden Ring Combat Until Nightreign's Release
An Elden Ring player's unique challenge: Conquering Messmer the Impaler daily until Elden Ring: Nightreign launches. This dedicated gamer, known as chickensandwich420, is documenting his impressive feat.
A Daily Grind: No-Hit Messmer Battles
Instead of passively awaiting Nightreign's release, chickensandwich420 devised a challenging self-imposed task: defeating Messmer the Impaler daily on NG+7, utilizing a different weapon each time and achieving a flawless no-hit victory. This ambitious undertaking began December 16, 2024, as documented on his YouTube channel. Initially planning a broader FromSoftware boss challenge, his university studies led him to focus on this more manageable, yet still incredibly difficult, goal.
Messmer, the notoriously challenging antagonist from Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, presents a significant hurdle. Players commonly report needing 30 to over 150 attempts to defeat him, even with optimal equipment. chickensandwich420's commitment is truly remarkable.
However, the challenge has a built-in deadline: June 2025. If Nightreign doesn't release by then, chickensandwich420 will shift his focus to other games. This sets a limit of approximately 160 Messmer battles. At the time of writing, he's reached day 23.
Elden Ring: Nightreign, a standalone three-player co-op spin-off, was announced at The Game Awards 2024 with a projected 2025 release. Given FromSoftware's history, however, the actual release date remains uncertain. Whether chickensandwich420 completes his self-imposed challenge before Nightreign's launch remains to be seen.
