A Decade in the Making

The development of Dragon Age: The Veilguard has been a long and complex process, marked by significant delays spanning almost a decade. Development started in 2015, post-Dragon Age: Inquisition. However, BioWare's focus shifted to Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem, impacting The Veilguard's (then codenamed "Joplin") progress. Further complicating matters, the initial design clashed with BioWare's live-service strategy, leading to a complete development halt.

Revived in 2018 under the codename "Morrison," the game was officially announced as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf in 2022 before settling on its current title.
