After the releases of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, not all CD Projekt RED veterans remained with the company. Some, including the creators of The Blood of Dawnwalker, chose a different path.

The Blood of Dawnwalker, recently revealed, is the brainchild of Rebel Wolves, a studio founded by a CD Projekt RED veteran.

Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, explaining his departure from CDPR, highlighted several key reasons:

The desire to pursue a new direction with close friends led to the formation of Rebel Wolves. Their shared passion for role-playing games and their rich history is undeniable. However, Tomaszkiewicz felt that traditional RPG rules could be significantly expanded and improved upon. This led to the development of some innovative and ambitious ideas. He recognized that convincing a large corporation to embrace such novel concepts, particularly with entirely new intellectual property, would be extremely challenging. Therefore, establishing their own studio became the only viable option for realizing their vision. This approach, while offering creative freedom, also carries inherent risks due to the unconventional nature of their project.

In contrast to the complexities of large studios, Rebel Wolves fosters a collaborative environment built on strong interpersonal relationships. Tomaszkiewicz believes that a smaller team facilitates better communication and a more streamlined process for sharing and refining the creative vision. This close-knit structure allows for a more intense creative energy and makes the development of something truly unique much easier.
