Pokemon Shatters World Record with Epic 24-Hour Card Opening Marathon
The Pokémon Company International has achieved a new Guinness World Record, setting a new benchmark for the longest Pokémon TCG card unboxing livestream. This incredible feat involved opening over 20,000 cards in a non-stop 24-hour marathon.
A Record-Breaking Livestream Event
On November 26th, 2024, popular internet personalities teamed up with The Pokémon Company to celebrate the launch of the Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks expansion. The event, streamed live on Pokémon's Twitch channel, featured Serebii's Joe Merrick, PokeGirl Ranch, and Mayplaystv, who collectively opened 1,500 booster packs and other Pokémon products. The final tally? An astonishing 20,000+ cards!
Peter Murphy, Senior Director of Marketing at The Pokémon Company International, expressed his pride in the achievement, stating, “It's been an incredible 24 hours of pack opening, and we’re thrilled to have achieved such an ambitious GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title alongside an amazing team of content creators.”
The amassed cards will be organized and donated to charities before the holidays, including Barnardo's in the UK. The Pokémon Company also teased future giveaways on the participating content creators' channels within the next two weeks.
Celebrating Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks
Released on November 8th, 2024, Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks transports players to the Terarium, the key location in the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC, The Indigo Disk. This expansion introduces powerful Stellar Tera Pokémon ex, such as Archaludon ex with its formidable Metal Defender ability.
The expansion also boasts iconic Dragon-type Pokémon like Palkia, Dialga, Eternatus, along with Alolan Exeggutor ex, and Tatsugiri ex. Collectors can also find Illustration Rare and Special Illustration Rare cards featuring Alolan Dugtrio and Feebas, capturing tranquil ocean scenes. New Tera Pokémon ex, including Pallossand ex and Flygon ex, add exciting options for TCG players. The expansion is also available digitally through the Pokémon TCG Live app, offering in-game bonuses for collecting and battling with the new Stellar Tera Pokémon ex.
