PlayStation Plus subscribers will get five extra days for free
Sony has addressed the near-day-long PlayStation Network (PSN) outage this past weekend, attributing the disruption to an unspecified "operational issue." The company's social media statement offered no further explanation of the cause or preventative measures.
To compensate PlayStation Plus subscribers, Sony will automatically add five extra days to their existing subscriptions.
The outage significantly impacted gameplay, with over one-third of players unable to log in and widespread reports of server crashes.
This incident highlights concerns among players regarding Sony's requirement of a PSN account even for single-player PC games. While less severe than the major 2011 data breach that caused over 20 days of connectivity problems, the lack of detailed information from Sony has left PS5 users frustrated.
