SnyderCut Fans React to Gunn Dismissing Superman Backlash

The moderators of the SnyderCut subreddit have taken swift action against a controversial post encouraging fans to sabotage the upcoming Superman film, issuing a clarifying statement to their community.
Moderation Team Responds to Controversial Call-to-Action
When DC's James Gunn became aware of the now-deleted post encouraging coordinated actions against his Superman movie, he responded with characteristic wit. "Lol I think we'll survive," Gunn quipped on Threads, downplaying the potential impact of what he jokingly referred to as "the eight people that listen to that guy."
The moderators later clarified they removed the inflammatory post within two hours of publication, noting it had minimal engagement before deletion. However, screenshots had already begun circulating across social platforms, ultimately reaching Gunn himself.
Community Standards Reinforced
In their official statement, the moderation team emphasized: "We support everyone's right to vote with their wallets by choosing to not see a movie. But we do not support any dishonesty or manipulation aimed at stopping someone else from choosing to see a movie."
This incident marks another chapter in the complex relationship between Snyderverse enthusiasts and DC's new creative direction. The passionate fanbase previously achieved significant success with the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut campaign, but recent events have spotlighted more divisive elements within the community.
David Ayer, director of 2016's Suicide Squad, found himself caught in similar crossfire when he asked fans not to push for his director's cut during Superman's marketing cycle. The subsequent backlash led Ayer to announce he was taking a "step back" from online discourse.
Gunn addressed these tensions in a recent Rolling Stone interview, revealing an unexpected perspective: "I think it's good. I think you don't wanna have everybody root for you." He shared an anecdote about a sensitive cast member who takes online criticism too seriously, joking about how even Superman's vulnerability to sunlight became a point of contention.
The director also used the interview to explain his creative decision to omit subtitles from both this summer's Superman and next year's Supergirl, though details of that explanation remain withheld here.
