Sony's June 2025 State of Play Unveils Lumines Arise
Sony's June 2025 State of Play kicked off with a thrilling reveal: Lumines Arise, a new project from Tetris Effect creator Tetsuya Mizuguchi.
The game launches fall 2025 on PlayStation 5 and PS VR2, with a playable demo arriving this summer. Check out the debut trailer below:
On the PlayStation Blog, Enhance Director Takashi Ishihara described Lumines Arise as a true successor to the classic PSP puzzle franchise, now rebuilt for modern platforms with optional PS VR2 support.
"This isn't just another puzzle game – we're crafting an emotional experience," Ishihara explained. "PlayStation 5 players with PS VR2 will journey through 30+ stages, each designed to evoke distinct feelings through breathtaking environments."
"The adventure begins in darkness, gradually revealing vibrant jungles, alien oceans, and futuristic cityscapes – all enhanced by synesthesia-inspired visuals. Our signature gameplay remains deceptively simple: rotate colorful 2×2 blocks to create matching squares before the Timeline sweeps them away to the beat."
"As you master combos, the DualSense's haptics synchronize with pulsing music while dynamic backgrounds pull you deeper. Before you realize it, you'll enter that magical flow state where time stands still."
For those who missed the event, here's every announcement from Sony's June 2025 State of Play showcase.
