"Split Fiction Surpasses 2 Million Sales in One Week"
Hazelight Games is celebrating the phenomenal success of their latest co-op adventure, Split Fiction, which has sold an impressive 2 million copies within just one week of its release. Launched on March 6 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, the game featuring dual protagonists quickly solidified its status as another triumph for the studio. Hazelight expressed their gratitude on social media, stating they are "blown away" by the overwhelming support from their fanbase, both new and returning.
The game's sales momentum was evident from the start, with 1 million copies sold in the first 48 hours following its launch. This means an additional million copies were snapped up in the subsequent five days, showcasing the game's strong appeal and the compelling narrative of Mio and Zoe's sci-fi journey.
As a co-op game, Split Fiction likely boasts a player base significantly larger than the number of units sold, thanks to its innovative Friend's Pass feature. This allows one player to buy the game and invite a friend to play for free, further amplifying its reach and impact within the gaming community. With the buzz around Split Fiction continuing to grow on social media, the sales figures are expected to climb even higher.
Hazelight's previous title, the 2021 Game of the Year winner It Takes Two, followed a similar trajectory of success. It sold around 1 million copies shortly after its launch in March 2021, eventually reaching 10 million copies by February 2023 and an astounding 20 million copies by October 2024.
In IGN's review of Split Fiction, the game was praised as "an expertly crafted co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another," highlighting its dynamic and engaging gameplay experience.
