"Star Wars: Hunters to End in 2025, Last Update Coming Soon"
Star Wars: Hunters, Zynga's inaugural venture into the Star Wars franchise, is poised to close its doors just over a year after its launch on iOS and Android. The game, which debuted in June 2024, quickly captured attention with its unique blend of game show aesthetics and innovative takes on classic Star Wars archetypes.
It has now been officially announced that Star Wars: Hunters will cease operations on October 1st of this year. In the lead-up to its closure, a final content update is scheduled for release on April 15th. In response to the shutdown, players can now request refunds for in-game currency, and certain seasonal events will be rerun as part of an extended Season 3.
Fans eagerly awaiting the arrival of the last hunter, Tuya, will be pleased to know that they can still engage with this character in multiplayer mode. Tuya will be introduced in the final update and will be available to play for free from the outset for all players.
The decision to shutter Star Wars: Hunters came as a surprise to many, as there were few signs that the game was struggling. Given Zynga's robust backing, it's evident that the closure might stem from broader market dynamics rather than internal performance issues. One possible explanation could be the oversaturation of the pseudo-hero shooter genre, coupled with a shifting demographic of Star Wars fans who may not be as interested in high-octane mobile multiplayer experiences.
For those who haven't yet experienced Star Wars: Hunters, there's still time to dive in before the game is discontinued. Don't miss the chance to explore the game and check out our comprehensive tier list of Hunters ranked by class to enhance your gameplay experience!
