Kylo Ren's Continued Journey

Soule, known for his work on the post-Empire Strikes Back era, including War of the Bounty Hunters and Dark Droids, explains his return to Kylo Ren: He felt there was much more to explore after his 2020 miniseries, The Rise of Kylo Ren. The films only hinted at much of Kylo's backstory, leaving ample room for expansion. This new series, set after Episode VIII, focuses on a character undergoing immense change in a short time.

Soule also highlights his reunion with artist Luke Ross, praising his ability to capture Kylo Ren's volatile nature.

Ben Solo's Post-Last Jedi Turmoil

Legacy of Vader takes place immediately after The Last Jedi. Ben has failed to sway Rey, battled Luke, nearly killed his mother, and seized control of the First Order. The series explores his inner conflict as he grapples with his past.

Soule describes Ben's visit to Mustafar and his conflicted feelings about Darth Vader, highlighting Ben's dishonesty with himself and his search for guidance despite his outward posturing.

The series will also delve into the First Order's internal politics, featuring characters like General Hux and Allegiant General Pryde. Kylo Ren's efforts to consolidate power will be a significant plot point.

The ultimate goal is to enrich our understanding of Kylo Ren/Ben Solo, providing deeper insight into his motivations and choices in The Rise of Skywalker. While the ending is known, the series aims to illuminate his journey. Soule emphasizes the balance between standalone storytelling and its place within the larger Star Wars canon. He promises a compelling mix of angst, drama, and action.
