Stellar Blade Developer Reports Record Year, PC Sales to Surpass PS5

Shift Up, the developer behind Stellar Blade, has announced a record-breaking year, with the game generating $43 million in royalties. The studio's 2024 financial report shows a 30.4% year-over-year revenue increase, reaching $151.4 million, with Stellar Blade contributing significantly to this success.

Further bolstering this success, Shift Up anticipates that the upcoming PC version of Stellar Blade will surpass the PlayStation 5 sales, particularly within the Asian gaming market. This positive outlook is further strengthened by the studio's plans to unveil their new title, Project Witches, in the first half of 2025. While Project Witches isn't the highly anticipated Stellar Blade sequel, Shift Up has confirmed that they are considering developing another game in the franchise.

Project Witches was initially revealed in 2024, shortly after Stellar Blade's PS5 launch, preempting significant demand for a direct sequel.

Stellar Blade, a fast-paced action RPG, puts players in the role of Eve as she fights to reclaim Earth from mysterious invaders. The game, which sold over a million copies, received a 7/10 rating from IGN, praised for its core action gameplay but criticized for its characters, narrative, and some RPG mechanics. IGN's review summarized the game as strong in its core action elements, but hampered by underdeveloped characters, a weak story, and frustrating RPG mechanics preventing it from reaching the top tier of the genre.
