Top Pokémon Card Gainers and Losers: May 9
Another week brings more thrilling shifts in the Pokémon TCG single card market as trainers eagerly await the release of Destined Rivals. Fortunately, the preorders for Black Bolt and White Flare at the Pokémon Center managed to dodge a bot takeover this time around.
The most significant price drop this week was for Greninja ex 214/167, which has plummeted by nearly 50% since the beginning of the year. We're also witnessing price reductions across cards from Obsidian Flames and the elusive 151 expansions. On the flip side, Dragonite V from Evolving Skies has nearly doubled in value since January, a testament to the card's stunning artwork and enduring appeal.
Charizard V Alt Art continues to impress with its depiction of a battle against Venusaur, steadily increasing in value. Meanwhile, Rayquaza VMAX Alt Art is experiencing a meteoric rise, gaining an additional $100 since the start of the year. Let's delve deeper into the week's most notable Pokémon TCG climbers and crashers.
Pokémon Card Crashes

While we're finally seeing a climb in Sword and Shield era Pokémon cards, Scarlet and Violet series cards are settling into more reasonable prices.
Alakazam ex SIR from 151 is a stunning card, now 34% lower in price than at the beginning of March. There's no reason not to add Uri Geller's grandad to your collection this year.
Bulbasaur was my first starter Pokémon when I first played Pokémon Blue, so Bulbasaur IR holds a special place in my heart. This card has dropped by a massive 52% since mid-March, making it an irresistible buy.
Moving on to Obsidian Flames, Ninetales IR remains one of the set's best cards. If you're a fan, now's the time to grab it, as it has crashed by 40% since February to a reasonable $18.17.

People can criticize Obsidian Flames all they want, but Charizard ex SIR's stained glass Tera form is undeniably cool. Though it hasn't dropped much since March, every dollar saved counts.
The biggest crasher this month is Greninja ex SIR, which once seemed poised to be the most expensive Scarlet and Violet era card. However, Prismatic Evolutions shifted the market dynamics. It's still a class card, holding steady at $275, but it's a stark contrast to its $411.62 price tag at the end of February.

Moving on to this week's climbers, Rayquaza VMAX Alt Art remains a coveted card from the Sword and Shield era. Already valued over $500, it's now at $649.99 and shows no signs of slowing down. This card could potentially reach the $1,000 mark in a few years, so grab one if you can.
Charizard V Alt Art captures a dynamic battle with Venusaur, and its value has risen by $40 since January. With its unique angle and dynamic feel, this card could easily surpass $200 before the year's end.
