Final Fantasy VII Rebirth's PC Port: A Detailed Look at the Features

A new trailer confirms a wealth of features for the upcoming PC release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, arriving nearly a year after its PS5 debut. The game, a critical darling and Game of the Year contender, will finally reach PC players on January 23, 2025.

Square Enix has detailed impressive specifications, including support for resolutions up to 4K and frame rates of 120fps. Beyond this, expect "improved lighting" and "enhanced visuals," though specifics remain under wraps for now. Players will have the flexibility to adjust graphics settings via three presets (Low, Medium, High), and even control the number of on-screen NPCs to optimize performance.

Key PC Features:

  • High-Fidelity Visuals: Up to 4K resolution and 120fps. Improved lighting and enhanced visuals.
  • Customizable Graphics: Three graphical presets (Low, Medium, High) and adjustable NPC count.
  • Input Options: Mouse and keyboard support, plus full DualSense controller compatibility with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.
  • Performance Enhancements: Nvidia DLSS support is confirmed. AMD FSR support, however, is absent.

The inclusion of mouse and keyboard controls, along with DualSense support, caters to a broad range of player preferences. The presence of Nvidia DLSS is a boon for performance, but the omission of AMD FSR might disadvantage players using AMD graphics cards.

While the PS5 version's sales didn't quite meet expectations, the robust feature set of the PC port suggests Square Enix is aiming for strong performance on this platform. The coming months will reveal if this strategy proves successful.
