Korean 'Sims-Like' Game 'inZOI' Pushed to 2025
Krafton's highly anticipated life simulator, inZOI, gets a release date pushback to March 28, 2025. This decision, announced by director Hyungjin "Kjun" Kim on the game's Discord server, prioritizes building a stronger foundation for a more polished gaming experience.
The delay, explained as akin to the lengthy process of raising a child, stems from overwhelmingly positive player feedback gathered during character creator demos and playtests. This feedback highlighted the developers' responsibility to deliver the most complete and fulfilling experience possible. Kjun apologized for the delay but emphasized the commitment to a superior launch.
The decision is particularly noteworthy given the impressive 18,657 concurrent players inZOI's character creator demo achieved in less than a week before its removal from Steam on August 25, 2024. (Data from SteamDB) This underscores the significant anticipation surrounding the game.
Initially revealed in Korea in 2023, inZOI is poised to challenge The Sims' dominance in the life simulation genre. Its focus on unparalleled customization and realistic graphics aims to redefine the category. The delay, in part, aims to avoid the pitfalls of releasing an unfinished product, a lesson learned from the cancellation of Life By You earlier this year. However, this postponement places inZOI in direct competition with Paralives, another life simulator slated for a 2025 release.
While the wait until March 2025 might test fans' patience, Krafton assures players the extra time will result in a game worthy of countless hours of gameplay "for years to come." Whether managing character stress or enjoying virtual karaoke, inZOI aims to be more than just a Sims competitor; it strives to carve its own unique niche in the life simulation landscape.
