In Monster Hunter Wilds, Every Weapon Has Its Own Unique Design - IGN First
Fans of the Monster Hunter series have long expressed their concerns about the weapon designs in Monster Hunter: World, often feeling that they lacked the uniqueness they craved. As anticipation builds for Monster Hunter Wilds, the question on everyone's mind has been whether the upcoming game would address these concerns. With only a glimpse of the new weapons available, it's been hard to form a solid opinion on the design philosophy of Wilds—until now. Director Yuya Tokuda has shed light on this topic, providing clarity and excitement for what's to come.
In a recent discussion about the Hope series armor and weapons, Tokuda stated: "Incidentally, weapon designs in Monster Hunter: World generally retained a certain form, but they featured a customized appearance based on which monster materials were used. However, in Wilds, each weapon has its own unique design." This statement directly addresses the concerns about weapon similarity in Monster Hunter: World, assuring fans that Monster Hunter Wilds will feature distinctly unique weapons.
This comparison clearly differentiates the approach taken in Monster Hunter Wilds from that of its predecessor. While some weapons in Monster Hunter: World did evolve to become entirely unique, many remained quite similar, even at their most upgraded forms. For instance, the final aqua line Sword and Shield bore a striking resemblance to the Pukei-Pukei sword and shield, just as the final bone line long sword was very similar to the Jyuratodus long sword when Monster Hunter: World was first released.
In contrast, the weapons showcased so far in Monster Hunter Wilds demonstrate a commitment to individuality and distinctiveness. Take a look at the slideshow below to see the unique designs of the weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds.
