South Park to Continue Bi-Weekly Episode Releases Through Season’s End

South Park will once again skip airing a new episode this week, as a report confirms the show’s shift to a bi-weekly release schedule will persist for the remainder of the season.

The latest batch of South Park episodes, currently airing on Comedy Central and Paramount+, has drawn some of the series’ strongest ratings to date, along with widespread global attention, thanks to its unfiltered portrayal of President Donald Trump.

However, the production timeline has lengthened, with only three episodes released over the past six weeks since Season 27’s debut, and the fourth episode now anticipated next week, on September 3.

According to Deadline, South Park will maintain its every-other-week release pattern for the rest of the season, with the full 10-episode run concluding after 20 weeks, around December 10.

Why the shift? As expected, the extended production time per episode gives creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker more room to refine each installment.

“No one’s going to sacrifice getting it right, even if we have to delay airing it — and if that means the season runs longer, that’s acceptable,” an anonymous production source told the outlet.

This new schedule also benefits Paramount, the report adds, as the network gains extended exposure and conversation around South Park compared to a weekly release pace.

Season 27 opened with a standout episode that featured President Trump in a prominent role — so prominent, in fact, that viewers were treated to more footage of him than many anticipated. The White House responded swiftly, stating, “Just like the creators of South Park, the Left has no authentic or original content, which is why their popularity continues to hit record lows.”

“This show hasn’t been relevant for over 20 years and is clinging to relevance with tired ideas in a desperate bid for attention,” said Taylor Rogers, a Trump White House spokesperson, in an interview with Rolling Stone. “President Trump has delivered on more promises in just six months than any other president in our country’s history — and no second-rate series can derail his momentum.”

The season’s second episode, Got a Nut, introduced Vice President JD Vance and featured a controversial depiction of Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem as a gun-toting, pet-killing figure. Last week’s third episode, Sickofancy, again spotlighted Trump, who acquired Towelie, the genetically-engineered talking towel, under circumstances too complex to detail here.

What could South Park be planning for its next episode? We’ll simply have to wait another week to find out.
