Tsukuyomi: Divine Hunter - Kazuma Kaneko's New Roguelike Deck-Builder
Kazuma Kaneko, the visionary designer known for his work on Shin Megami Tensei, Persona, and Devil Summoner, is set to captivate gamers once again with his latest project, Tsukuyomi: The Divine Hunter. Developed by COLOPL, this roguelike deck-building game will be available on PC, iOS, and Android, featuring Kaneko’s iconic dark, mythological style intertwined with strategic card-based combat.
Set in the futuristic backdrop of Tokyo Bay, Tsukuyomi: The Divine Hunter unfolds within The Hashira, a towering high-rise transformed into a sealed-off battleground. This structure is now home to enigmatic gods and demons. Players take on the role of an elite member of the national defense force, Tsukuyomi, tasked with reaching the top floor to confront and eliminate a formidable adversary.
Fans of Kaneko’s previous works will recognize the blend of urban decay and supernatural horror that creates a chilling and immersive atmosphere in Tsukuyomi. The game masterfully fuses mythology with cyberpunk elements, promising a unique experience upon its release later this year.
As a roguelike card game, Tsukuyomi: The Divine Hunter challenges players to craft a deck of powerful abilities while navigating a dungeon that shifts with each playthrough. Every run presents unique cards, dungeon layouts, and enemy encounters, ensuring no two experiences are the same.
Combat in Tsukuyomi is fast-paced and turn-based, requiring players to make critical decisions with each action. You have one move per turn, which could be an attack or a defense, demanding quick thinking and strategic planning.
While exploring the dungeon, players will encounter branching paths and pivotal choices that shape their journey. Each decision carries lasting consequences, influencing battles and resource availability. True to the roguelike genre, failure in combat results in losing all progress, necessitating a restart from the beginning.
Tsukuyomi: The Divine Hunter is slated for release around June 30th, though this date may change. Interested players can pre-register by clicking on their preferred link below. In the meantime, explore our list of the best roguelikes to play on Android to keep your gaming appetite satisfied!
