FF7 Remake Part 3 is Now Story Complete, Smooth Sailing From Here
Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3: Story Complete, Full Steam Ahead!
Directors Hamaguchi and producer Kitase recently confirmed that the main storyline for Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 is complete, and development is progressing smoothly. This exciting news assures fans that the highly anticipated conclusion to the trilogy remains on schedule.
Development on Track: No Delays Expected
In a Famitsu interview promoting Final Fantasy VII Rebirth's PC release, the team revealed that work on Part 3 commenced immediately after Rebirth's completion. Hamaguchi stated development is proceeding without delays, adhering to the original project timeline. Kitase added that the narrative, initially completed before Rebirth's PlayStation 5 launch, has undergone final polishing and is now finalized to his satisfaction. He emphasized the story's aim to deliver a satisfying conclusion that respects the original while adding its own unique elements.
Initial Concerns Over Rebirth's Reception
Despite the critical acclaim and widespread success of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (released early 2024), the development team initially harbored concerns about player reception. Kitase acknowledged anxieties surrounding the game's status as a remake and the second part of a trilogy. However, the overwhelmingly positive response alleviated these worries and boosted confidence for the final installment. Hamaguchi highlighted the positive impact of this reception on the team's morale and the overall development process for Part 3. Hamaguchi's "logic-based" approach to incorporating player feedback, focusing on additive improvements rather than wholesale changes, was also cited as a key factor in Rebirth's success.
Embracing the PC Gaming Market
The interview also addressed the rising prominence of PC gaming. Kitase noted the industry trend, citing increasing development costs and the need to reach a broader audience as reasons for prioritizing PC releases. He highlighted the global reach of PCs, contrasting them with the regional limitations of console sales. Hamaguchi emphasized the team's commitment to a faster PC port release for Rebirth compared to the first game, reflecting the shift in the gaming landscape.
The positive reception of the first two installments, coupled with the completed storyline for Part 3, paints a promising picture for the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy's conclusion. The possibility of a quicker PC release for Part 3, mirroring the accelerated Rebirth PC port, further enhances anticipation. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is now available on PC via Steam and PlayStation 5. The first installment, Final Fantasy VII Remake, is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam.
