How to Use Voodoo Doll in Phasmophobia
In the thrilling world of *Phasmophobia*, tracking down elusive ghosts often requires employing items that are just as risky as the specters themselves. The Voodoo Doll is one such item, a powerful tool that can significantly aid your investigation, but comes with its own set of dangers. This guide will walk you through how to acquire and effectively utilize this cursed possession.
How to Use the Voodoo Doll in Phasmophobia
The Voodoo Doll is considered one of the more manageable Cursed Possessions, offering a favorable risk-reward ratio. While game updates have tweaked its effects, it remains a valuable asset. Its primary function is to provoke the ghost into revealing evidence. This is achieved by sequentially inserting pins into the doll. This is particularly useful when dealing with ghosts that are reluctant to reveal themselves, prompting actions like EMF5 readings or ultraviolet fingerprints.
The doll has ten pins. Each insertion carries a risk: it depletes 5% of your sanity. Inserting all ten pins will reduce your sanity by 50%, significantly increasing your vulnerability to ghost hunts. However, the biggest threat is the heart pin. Pin insertion is random; if you hit the heart pin, you'll lose 10% sanity *and* immediately trigger a Cursed Hunt. This results in a prolonged and more intense ghost hunt (20 seconds longer than a standard hunt), with the ghost appearing near your location.
Despite the inherent risks, the Voodoo Doll's potential for gathering crucial evidence can be worthwhile, especially with careful planning and preparation.
What Are Cursed Objects (Possessions) in Phasmophobia?
Cursed Possessions, often called "Cursed Objects," are unique items in *Phasmophobia* that randomly appear on any map. Their appearance can vary depending on the difficulty and whether you're playing Challenge Mode.
Unlike standard equipment, which helps locate and identify ghosts with minimal risk, Cursed Objects offer shortcuts to manipulate the ghost's behavior, but at a significantly higher risk to your character's sanity. Some are safer than others, and the decision to use them rests entirely with you and your team. There's no penalty for choosing not to use them. Only one Cursed Possession spawns per contract (unless modified in Custom settings).
Seven Cursed Objects exist in the game:
- Haunted Mirror
- Voodoo Doll
- Music Box
- Tarot Cards
- Ouija Board
- Monkey Paw
- Summoning Circle
