inZOI Sells 1 Million Copies in Week, Krafton Eyes Long-Term Franchise
Krafton, the South Korean gaming giant, has announced that their new game, inZOI, has achieved a remarkable milestone by selling 1 million copies within just one week of its launch. This marks the fastest sales record for any game published by Krafton, showcasing the immense popularity and interest surrounding inZOI.
inZOI, which serves as Krafton's answer to The Sims, made its debut on PC through Steam in Early Access on March 28. Despite a controversial start where players discovered an unintended bug allowing them to harm children in-game, which Krafton quickly patched, the game has garnered a 'very positive' user review rating on Steam. It also achieved a peak of 175,000 concurrent viewers on Twitch, securing the third spot in the Games category. Impressively, inZOI skyrocketed to the top of Steam's Global Top Sellers List by revenue, reaching this position just 40 minutes after its release.
The in-game user-generated content platform, Canvas, also saw tremendous engagement, with over 1.2 million participants and more than 470,000 pieces of content uploaded on launch day alone.
IGN's Early Access review of inZOI gave it a score of 6/10, noting that while the game is visually impressive and ambitious, it lacks sufficient depth at this stage.
Krafton credits its successful launch to extensive pre-launch promotion and effective communication with the gaming community, which helped build trust and momentum. The inZOI global showcase and demo build were particularly effective in drawing attention. CEO CH Kim expressed gratitude and excitement about introducing inZOI to a global audience and emphasized Krafton's commitment to continuous engagement with players to develop inZOI into a long-term franchise.

Looking ahead, Krafton has promised to enhance inZOI with future updates that will include mod support and new cities. All updates and DLC will be free until the game's full release. In response to player feedback, Krafton plans to implement quick fixes for reported issues throughout April, acknowledging the challenges of managing a large global community and the need to refine their communication strategies.
